Robotic Paint Spraylat Application Notes

The selection of robotic painting equipment is a challenging experience. A purchase decision is normally tied to business decisions that consider the risk/reward potential due to the size of the investment. There is a wide range of robotic spray cells and automated systems available in the market today. Fortunately, many of these systems have a production history with conductive paints. This is important, since much can be learned, prior to a purchase decision, by investigating the experience of current users of these systems when spraying conductive coatings.

The equipment selection process should include consideration of a variety of criteria that directly relate to what you need from the system to achieve the most cost effective production result. The selection criteria includes:

Robotic Equipment Selection Considerations

  • Program Throughout Demand
  • Product Quality Requirements
  • Software Programmability
  • Maintenance History
  • Personnel Training
  • On-site Start-up Support
  • Global Systems Support Capabilities
  • Because the capital cost of automated equipment is high, the payback period for the investment needs to be justified based upon realizable production volumes. Equipment selection, however, involves many of the considerations noted above. In particular, it is very important to choose a robotic system that offers maximum flexibility in its ability to address a wide range of part sizes and configurations. As the customer base evolves and the applications change, it is critical that the system offer adaptability to these new production requirements.
