Copper-Free Mirror Processes
Hilemn has established a marketing and technology relationship with Glaverbel to bring their MNG and MNGE, “Mirox New Generation Ecological” mirror processes to the North American market. These technologies have been developed and patented by Glaverbel worldwide and represent the latest generation of copper-free mirror manufacturing processes. To date over 465 million square feet have been processed with MNGE technology.

MNG and MNGE Processes
The MNGE process, introduced to the European market in 1998, includes a two coat paint system that is both lead-free   or low lead and copper-free. After silvering, both of these processes involve the application of a proprietary, patented pretreatment followed by the direct application of the mirror coating.

The most important advantages of both these processes include their excellent resistance to humidity and accelerated corrosion testing including CASS and salt spray. In addition, their resistance to a wide range of household chemicals is far superior to what can be achieved with traditional copper manufactured mirrors. The possibility of clouding, which is related to potential copper oxidation is also reduced, making a superior mirror product for the market.
